Arne Haugen Sørensen (1932-) Danish painter and graphic artist. Debuted in 1953. The proverbial language is expressionistic, fabulative, figurative with strong colors in which grotesque human and animal-like beings appear. Often in anxious situations. The theme is the struggle for existence and the eternal tension between the contradictions of human nature, an ironic depiction of human animal drift and the absurdity of existence.

He has worked with many techniques in addition to painting; painted watercolor, work with mosaics, glass, ceramics, porcelain and fresco.

Arne Haugen Sørensen has received numerous awards and honors, including the Eckersberg Medal (1975) and Thorvaldsen Medal (1984), he is a member of the artist association Grønningen. Arne Haugen Sørensen is represented in most Danish art museums, but is also known for the decoration in a large number of Danish churches.
