Hunter Highback Lounge Chair by Torbjørn Afdal for Bruksbo, Set of 2
Hunter lounge chair with cognac brown leather and stained hardwood frame. Canvas weave holding the leather cushion up. Designed in the 1960s by Norwegian Torbjørn Afdal for Bruksbo.
Good vintage condition. Patinated with signs of wear consistent with age and use.
Torbjørn Afdal (1917-1999) was a Norwegian furniture designer. He graduated from the state Crafts & Art industry school in 1946 and at once worked at the design office Tegnekontoret Bruksbo AS. Together with Norwald Rydjord and Rolf Hesland, he became one of the leading designers at Tegnekontoret Bruksbo and also in Scandinavia.
His furniture was purchased by Jacqueline Kennedy as she was the First Lady in the White House. His furniture was also purchased by the Japanese emperor. On his older days, he designed chairs for the parliament in Norway and chairs and table for the town hall in Oslo.
